Tutorial on building with carboard
I am so cheap I look for the lowest price materials to build structures for my layout. So far, carboard corrugated cartons and cereal box cartons are my favourites.
Tools needed.
1) a good cutting board. I have one that fits on one of those TV tables so I can work and watch TV at the same time.
2) a sharp knife. One of those with the break off blades. Cardboard makes blades blunt very quickly
3) a steel ruler. The one I use is 18inches long.
4) a square. Like one of those that comes in a geometry set.
5) a compass from that same geometry set.
6) a scale rule for the scale you use.
7) one of those containers with divisions to put paint in.
8) acrylic craft paints in colour of your choice.
9) toothpicks, scewers paper and assorted odds and ends.
10) white glue in a small container so the tip is small.
Pictures or drawings of buildings you wish to build. Model railroad mags have lots of these but that is only one source. Make a model of a real building. Take photos and measurements if possible
Remember, this is scratchbuilding so if your measurements or guesses are off a bit, it doesn't matter as long as you are happy with the final structure.
Text is included on all the pictures so lets have fun.
